Tea for the whole family

In order to improve quality of our products and satisfy expectations of our clients, in 2010 President Wojciech Piasecki decided to establish in-house laboratory. Currently our laboratory analyses amounts of pesticides' and heavy metals' residuals in the resources used for production of tea. Our laboratory personnel have been continuously improving their professional skills, so that in future they are able to carry out research commissioned by external principals.

Description of Instruments - Equipment in our labolatory:

  • GC-431 gas chromographer manufactured by Varian, connected with MS-220 mass spectrometer manufactured by Varian
  • atomic absorption spectrometers - SpektrAA 240FS (quick sequence) and SpektrAA 240Z/GTA120 (graphite tube with Zeeman background correction) manufactured by Varian
  • Cary 50 spectrometer manufactured by Varian

Mission

Mission of BiFIX Laboratory consists in guaranteeing highest quality and safety of our products, which must comply with applicable provisions of law. We achieve this aim thanks to: careful selection of resources, innovative approach to development of new flavours, controls and analyses of resources and products, efficiently managed production process.

Research

Gas chromatography
Probe analysis by means of gas chromatography allows determining of organic compounds, whereas if this technique is combined with mass detector, it allows identifying chemical structure of compound. It is very important that determined compounds are volatile (or that they are easily transformed into volatile compounds) and thermally stable.
Application: Quantitative and qualitative determination of unknown organic compounds in different types of matrix e.g. pesticides in dried fruits, Environmental monitoring and control of work sites.

Atomic absorption spectroscopy
Atomic absorption spectroscopy is a technique used for determining presence and concentration of single metal and non-metal elements, as well as their traces in different types of matrix.
Application i.a.: In food industry (for food analysis) and pharmaceutical industry (for drug analysis), Environmental monitoring and control of work sites.

UV-Vis spectroscopy
UV-Vis spectroscopy is one of the most common instrumental methods of analysis, it is used for determining and identifying both unknown and known substances, which absorb radiation within visible light spectrum and UV spectrum (particularly organic compounds and compounds of transition metals), as well as for determining substance purity.
